Arrival
Bern is easy to reach from anywhere in the world by train. Please note that we do not offer airport pick-up. We kindly ask all participants to continue their journey to Bern by public transport.
For most international arrivals, the most convenient airports are Zurich Airport (ZRH), Geneva Airport (GVA) and EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL/MLH/EAP).
From Zurich Airport, follow the signs to the railway station Zürich Flughafen and take an SBB train to Bern main station. The journey takes around 1 hour 15 minutes.
From Geneva Airport, take the train from Genève-Aéroport to Bern main station. The journey takes around 2 hours.
From EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, take Bus 50 to Basel SBB railway station and continue by train to Bern main station.
Once you arrive at Bern main station, take tram no. 9 towards Wankdorf and get off at Guisanplatz. The event hotels around Guisanplatz / BERNEXPO are just a short walk from the tram stop.
For tickets and timetables, we recommend using the official SBB Mobile app or sbb.ch. In Switzerland, seat reservations are usually not required for regular train journeys. If a seat reservation is possible or mandatory, this will be shown in the SBB timetable. Please note that some international or panoramic trains may have different reservation rules.
A very practical option for travelling in Switzerland is EasyRide in the SBB Mobile app. Open EasyRide before boarding, check in with a swipe, travel by train, tram or bus, and check out again at the end of your journey. EasyRide automatically detects the route travelled and calculates the appropriate ticket price. Please make sure you check in before boarding and that your phone has enough battery and mobile data for the journey.
Switzerland is not part of the EU “Roam like at Home” roaming area. If you are travelling with a foreign SIM card, please check with your mobile operator before arrival whether roaming in Switzerland is included in your plan.
If Switzerland is not included, we recommend buying a roaming package from your provider before travelling, or using a travel eSIM or Swiss prepaid SIM/eSIM for your stay. This will help you avoid unexpected roaming charges and stay connected for maps, messages, tickets, SBB Mobile, EasyRide and event updates.
Please note that Swiss SIM and eSIM offers usually require registration with a valid passport or official ID.
Wi-Fi will be available at many hotels and venues, but we strongly recommend having mobile data available during your stay in Switzerland.
Hotel
Guests staying overnight in official accommodation in the city of Bern receive the Bern-Ticket for the duration of their stay. The ticket allows free travel on trams, buses and trains within Bern’s public transport zones 100/101.
On the day of arrival, your hotel booking confirmation can already be used as a valid Bern-Ticket for the journey from Bern main station to your accommodation. The Bern-Ticket is provided by the accommodation provider and must be activated before use.
Please note: the Bern-Ticket covers local public transport in Bern. It does not cover long-distance travel to Bern, for example from Zurich Airport, Geneva Airport or Basel.
For both the pre-tour and the main event, a limited room allotment has been pre-reserved at three hotels located directly at Guisanplatz / BERNEXPO in Bern:
