This full-day pre-tour takes participants to Lucerne, one of Switzerland’s most iconic lakeside cities. The programme combines a scenic journey on Lake Lucerne with a visit to the Swiss Museum of Transport, Switzerland’s most visited museum.

Depending on the 2027 timetable, the lake journey is planned on one of Lake Lucerne’s historic paddle steamers or scheduled passenger boats. The cruise itself becomes part of the Swiss mobility experience, with beautiful views of Lucerne, the lake and the surrounding mountains.

At the Swiss Museum of Transport, participants will discover interactive exhibitions covering rail, road, water, air, space, energy and media. It is one of the best places in Switzerland to experience the country’s long-standing connection with mobility, innovation and public transport.

In the evening, we will round off the day with a shared dinner together with members of Round Table Lucerne. This will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with local Tablers, exchange stories and enjoy some genuine Swiss Round Table hospitality before returning to Bern.

This full-day pre-tour starts early in the morning and takes participants deep into the Bernese Oberland for a spectacular alpine experience on the Schilthorn.

Travelling by public transport from Bern via Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen and Stechelberg, participants will experience one of Switzerland’s most impressive mountain journeys. A highlight along the way is the new cableway section from Stechelberg towards Mürren, described as the steepest cableway in the world, with a maximum gradient of 159.4%.

On the way up, the tour includes a stop at Birg, located between Mürren and the Schilthorn summit. Weather permitting, participants can enjoy the views from Birg and experience the Skyline Walk and Thrill Walk, with glass, steel and open-air elements built into the dramatic mountain scenery.

The journey continues to the Schilthorn – Piz Gloria at 2,970 metres above sea level. At the summit, participants will enjoy lunch at the famous 360° revolving restaurant Piz Gloria, known worldwide through the James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

After lunch, there will be time to explore the James Bond Experience, enjoy the panoramic views, take photos and simply take in the alpine atmosphere. A shared World4Meeting group photo in front of the mountain scenery will make this day even more memorable.

On the way back, the tour includes time in Mürren, one of Switzerland’s iconic car-free mountain villages. Participants can stroll through the village, enjoy the alpine setting and experience a very different side of Switzerland before returning to Bern in the evening.

In the evening, we will round off this spectacular alpine day with a shared dinner in Interlaken together with members of Round Table Interlaken. A wonderful opportunity to meet local Tablers, exchange stories and enjoy genuine Swiss Round Table hospitality before returning to Bern.

This pre-tour is all about perspective: dramatic peaks, breathtaking views, Swiss engineering and shared moments high above the valleys of the Bernese Oberland.

This final pre-tour takes participants to the medieval town of Gruyères, where Swiss heritage, culture and imagination meet.

The visit includes Gruyères Castle, a historic landmark overlooking the region and offering a journey through centuries of art, history and legends. Participants will also have time to experience the unique atmosphere of the old town of Gruyères, with its picture-perfect setting and strong connection to Swiss tradition.

The tour continues with a visit to the HR Giger Museum, dedicated to the Swiss artist whose visionary work became internationally famous through Alien. The museum presents Giger’s distinctive biomechanical universe and offers a striking contrast to the medieval charm of Gruyères.

This pre-tour brings together two very different sides of Switzerland: historic beauty and tradition on the one hand — and dark, surreal science fiction art on the other. It is the perfect final pre-tour before returning to Bern, where the official World4Meeting programme begins later that day.
